Festa dos Merendeiros

我がDistrito（町とでもいいましょうか？）Santo Isidoro の宗教イベントにちょっと寄ってみました。

４月４日は、我々の町の守護神である聖イジドロの日です。それにちなんで、毎年その週末は、大きなミサと参加者全員にパンが配られると言う、伝統的行事が行われるのです。

簡単に由来を説明します。
大昔、この地域に干ばつが続き、農作民たちは守護神である聖イジドロに祈ります。
豊作になれば、次の年の聖の日にお祭りをし、そこへ来た全員にパンを配ろうと誓います。
奇跡が起き・・・？！　
その風習が今でも続いています。１７００年からですから、かなりのもんですね。



実は、時期を同じくして、この地域に Imagem peregrina de Nossa Senhora de Fatima （ファティマの聖母マリアの巡礼の像）が来てました。この像は、世界を巡っているそうです。









あれ？マリア様って日本人だったっけ？
 


April 4th is the day of St. Isidore who is the patron Saint of this district. On the Sunday of this week, there is a big mass and a local bread is distributed to anyone who shows up at the event.

The origin of this event started back in 1700.
There was a big drought in the area. The local farmers got together and promised the Patron Saint of St. Isidore that if they are able to harvest well, they would make a big party on his day and give bread to all those who showed up.
Miracle or not (?!) it became a prosperous year and the custom still remains today.

By chance, we also got to see the "Imagem peregrina de Nossa Senhora de Fatima (The pilgrimage statue of Our Lady of Fatima)". This statue seems to be going around the world and it just stayed in the church of St. Isidore this Sunday to be celebrated together with the local event.
